Editorial standards
These standards apply to everything published on this site, in The Principal’s Brief and in republished copies on LinkedIn.
What the essays are
Commentary on economics, technology, industries and broad asset classes, such as the commodity cycle or the build-out of artificial intelligence. Each essay states a view, the reasoning and evidence behind it, and what would change my mind. Facts are dated and sourced.
What the essays will not do
- Recommend, or express an opinion on, any specific financial product: no named shares, funds, exchange-traded products, tickers or securities.
- Tell readers to buy, sell or hold anything, or suggest prices, targets or timing.
- Consider any reader’s personal circumstances, or answer personal questions about what a reader should do with their money.
- Report or imply the investment performance of the Pineda Family Office. Where an essay describes the family’s own decisions, it does so to explain a method, not to invite anyone to copy a position.
- Carry advertising, sponsored content or affiliate links, or earn any payment connected to a financial product.
Who is writing
The Pineda Family invests only its own capital. It does not offer financial services to the public, manage money for others or accept outside investors. The essays and The Principal’s Brief are written by Fazil Pineda, Chief Investment Officer of the Pineda Family Office, and describe how the family thinks and works.
Interests
The Pineda Family Office invests across many of the themes discussed here, including commodities and technology. Readers should assume it may hold assets connected to any theme on this site. Essays are written to explain a view, not to move anyone towards a transaction.
Corrections
When an essay contains a factual error, it is corrected and the correction is noted at the end, with its date. Views that turn out to be wrong are left as written, because the record is the point.
Questions from readers
I welcome discussion of the ideas. I do not answer questions about a reader’s own investments; for those, please speak to a licensed adviser.
